Vietnamese ambassador meets footballers ahead of AFF Suzuki Cup

Vientiane (VNA) –Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung on November 6 visited the nationalfootball team, wishing them good luck for their first match against Laos in theASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup 2018 on November 8.

The diplomat was accompanied byrepresentatives of Vietnamese agencies and business community in Laos.

Talking to the footballers, Hungcalled on the whole team to uphold the spirit of solidarity, determination, andfair play.    

He expected that the team willplay with the highest determination for victory at the upcoming match, creatinga driving force for their AFF Suzuki Cup journey.

On behalf of the team, VicePresident of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan pledged thatthe players will do their best at the Group A match against Laos and willstrive to top the group to gain advantages in the next rounds.

On the occasion, Hung presentedover 4,000 USD, which was donated by the embassy’s staff and Vietnamese firmsin Laos, to encourage the team.

The AFF Cup will be held at 12different stadiums in Southeast Asian nations from November 8 to December 15.

This year, the tournament willfeature a new playing format, with both home and away ties.

After the match against Laos,Vietnam will meet Malaysia at Hanoi’s My Dinh Stadium on November 16, Myanmarin Yangon on November 20 and Cambodia at Hanoi’s Hang Day Stadium on November24.
