Vietnamese women’s team prepare for Olympics qualifiers
Following their success at the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 30) in the Philippines, the Vietnamese national women’s team convened in Hanoi on December 24 to prepare for the third qualifying round of the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Head coach Mai Duc Chungannounced the list of 25 players. Chung put his belief in young players,as some are promoted from the women’s U19 team, including Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan,Ngan Thi Van Su, Nguyen Thi Truc Huong, Cu Thi Huynh Nhu and goalie Tran Thi NgocAnh.
The coach also called two youngplayers Luong Thi Thu Thuong and Dinh Thi Thuy Duong to the national team forthe first time.
Meanwhile, Chung kept veteranssuch as Huynh Nhu, Pham Hai Yen and Chuong Thi Kieu on his list.
According to Chung, he calledmany young players with the aim of preparing players for the future, includingthe 31st Southeast Asian Games which will be held in Vietnam in 2021.
The team will begin theirone-week training session in the northern province of Quang Ninh on January 1and then they will return to Hanoi to continue to practice.
Vietnam have been drawn inGroup A, together with the Republic of Korea, the Democratic People’s Republicof Korea and Myanmar, in the event which will be held in the RoK nextFebruary. Meanwhile, Group B consists of Australia, China, Thailand and ChineseTaipei.
The teams will play in a roundrobin format (February 3-9) to decide the top two teams from each group for theplay-off tournament. The two best teams of the play-off tournament, to beplayed on a home and away basis on March 6 to 11, will join hosts Japan as thethree representatives of Asia at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics./.

Xam singing, a folk art form with a history of more than 700 years, is not only a distinctive form of performance but also a living archive of Vietnamese cultural memory, reflecting everyday life, emotions, and aspirations across generations.
Themed "Vision," the two teams brought the festival's qualifying round to a spectacular close with performances that combined artistic storytelling, synchronised music and cutting-edge pyrotechnic techniques.
The pagoda preserves 896 woodblocks, including 26 sets of Buddhist texts and several unidentified pieces.
With its larger scale and broader international participation, Sports Festival 2026 is expected to become one of Vietnam's standout sporting events this summer while enriching community activities and supporting tourism during the peak travel season.
