Vietnam draw 1-1 with UAE in friendly match

Hanoi (VNA) – The U22 Vietnam team had a 1-1 draw withtheir peers from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a friendly match on October13 at HCM City’s Thong Nhat Stadium.

The Vietnamese goal was score by forward Ha Duc Chinh in the 52nd minute.

Both teams startedwith attacking intent but the visitors took control of the game despitefailing to break down a solid Vietnamese defence during the first half.

The first chanceactually fell to the home side after five minutes, but midfielder Huynh TanSinh had his header saved by Mubarak Al Ameri in the UAE goal.

The UAE looked dangerousthrough Alkhabeel Almehrzi and Yahya Ali Said Alghassani, but they both failedto hit the target having found good positions.

Just five minutes afterthe break, the UAE opened the scoring after a mistake by the hosts.

Two minutes later it wasChinh who managed to make amends with the equaliser.

Both teams made eightsubstitutions as friendly games allow, but that led to a disjointed game.

The friendly was part ofthe teams’ preparations for the Asian U23 Championship which will beheld in Thailand next January.

The two sides will meet each other again there in the group stage, where theyhave been drawn in Group D with the Republic of Korea and Jordan./.
