Nepali PM witnesses release of book on peace and Buddhism
Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has witnessed the release of a bilingual book titled Nepal: Peace Is at Hand in Hanoi during his official visit to Vietnam from May 9-13.

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Nepali Prime MinisterKP Sharma Oli has witnessed the release of a bilingual book titled Nepal: Peace Is atHand in Hanoi during his official visit to Vietnam from May 9-13.
The book is written in Vietnamese and English byMost Venerable Huyen Dieu, who established Vietnam Phat Quoc Pagoda in Lumbini,Nepal, the birthplace of Lord Buddha. It was the first Vietnamese pagodato be built abroad.
As the book is about Nepal, it is expected tofurther publicise the country in Vietnam and contribute to bilateralunderstanding and promoting Nepal as a tourist destination. The bookreflects upon the conflict and peace process from Buddhist philosophicalperspectives.
It is divided into two parts – the firstpart is in Vietnamese while the latter is in English.
During the book launch, Prime Minister Olisaid the book would help inform foreign nationals, especially followers ofBuddhism, about Lumbini and Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world.
The Prime Minister stressed that Nepal was notonly the birthplace of Lord Buddha but also a foundation of Buddhism.
He expressed admiration for President Ho ChiMinh and concern about the mutual understanding between two countries.
The book launch was held at the private museumof ao dai (traditional long dress) owned by designer Lan Huong.
“This ceremony is a proof of closefriendship and a chance for further cooperation between Vietnam and Nepal,”said Vietnamese Ambassador to Nepal Pham Sanh Chau. “The Prime Ministerintroduced the book and found out more about Vietnamese culture.”
The Nepali Prime Minister was on an official visit to Vietnamand attended the United Nations Day of Vesak 2019, which opened in Ha Namprovince on May 12.-VNS/VNA

“Vive la Paix” (Long Live Peace) painting was created by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso in 1954 following the signing of the Geneva Accords and was published on the front page of the French newspaper L’Humanité. While Picasso’s famous peace dove appears prominently in the painting, he also added images of people wearing Vietnamese conical hats alongside landscapes reminiscent of Vietnam.
Artistic director and international classical solo musician Hang Nguyen from the Da Nang-based Mun Art Academy said the competition will open at the Muong Thanh Luxury hotel, with a gala concert From Heritage to Harmony, a Journey across Cultures starting at 7.30pm on June 26.
