Vietnamese culture introduced at ASEAN Bazaar in Argentina

The ASEAN Committee in Argentina, which groups the embassies of Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia, organised an annual ASEAN bazaar on April 6, featuring a wide range of their traditional handicrafts, food and musical performances.

BuenosAires (VNA) - The ASEAN Committee in Argentina, which groups theembassies of Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia,organised an annual ASEAN bazaar on April 6, featuring a wide range of their traditionalhandicrafts, food and musical performances.

Theevent aimed to promote cultural exchanges, introduce the nations’ images andpeople, as well as to boost their mutual understanding and relations with thehost nation.

TheVietnam Embassy showcased lacquer paintings, silk products, conical hats, aodai (Vietnamese traditional long dress), cuisine, and tourism products.

Speakingat the opening ceremony, Indonesian Ambassador to Argentina Naryatie Siswojo,who is also the current rotating chair of the ASEAN Committee, said this was anopportunity for the participating countries to introduce its own images andcultural identities.

Thediplomat also highlighted the solidarity and cooperation within the bloc amidregional integration as reflected through the organisation of such annualevent.

TheASEAN, or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, now groups Brunei,Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore,Thailand and Vietnam.
