Fans rush to book last-minute tours to watch ASIAD football semifinal

Hanoi (VNA) – Travel companies in Vietnam areworking at full capacity to serve the demands of fans hoping to watch theirOlympic football team play live at the ASIAD semifinal match in Indonesia onAugust 29.

Vietnam defeated Syria 1-0 in the quarterfinal match of theongoing Asian Games 2018 (ASIAD) on August 27. The only goal was scored in the108th minute by Van Toan (number 8), who replaced striker Cong Phuong in the82nd minute.

Vietnam will meet the Republic of Korea in the semifinals at4 pm on August 29. This is the first time Vietnam has entered the semifinals inASIAD football.

As the date approaches, tours bringing Vietnamese fans toIndonesia to support their players are quickly becoming sold out.

Le Cong Nang, head of the marketing and communicationdepartment at Vietrantour, said the company is operating a two day and onenight tour to Jakarta costing 15.9 million VND (683.7 USD) per person, withfans receiving Vietnam flag T-shirts, hats, and banners as gifts.

Nang noted that there were not many seats remaining on thetour, and that Vietrantour is negotiating for more spaces.

Facing a similar situation, the Hanoi Red Tours travel firmannounced that its 100 seats for football fans to Indonesia are running out andits negotiation with airlines has begun.

Hanoi Red Tours is even offering a four day tour that allowfans to watch both the semifinal and final matches, with the price reaching 30.5million VND (1,310 USD) per person. The company also offers a 2 million VND (86USD) discount for any travellers bearing the same name as player Van Toan, whoscored the only goal for Vietnam in the quarterfinal match.

Vitours, a leading travel company in the central region, hasdecided to run a charter flight using Vietnam Airlines aircraft between thecentral city of Da Nang direct to Jakarta, as part of its ASIAD footballsemifinal tour. The trip costs 15.9 million VND per passenger. The flight willdepart Da Nang on August 29 and return from Jakarta on August 30.

Viettravel company has also hired an aircraft to carry 220fans to Jakarta on the morning of August 29. The tour costs 12.99 million VND (558.57USD) per passenger from Ho Chi Minh City, and 15.99 million VND (687.57 USD) perpassenger from Hanoi. –VNA
