Hanoi (VNA) – The death toll caused by floods following typhoonBebinca, the fourth storm that hit Vietnam this year, had increased to 10 as ofAugust 18, according to the Office of the Central Steering Committee forNatural Disaster Prevention and Control.
Of the dead victims, two were in the northern mountainous province ofSon La, two in the north central province of Thanh Hoa and six others incentral Nghe An province. In addition, two people in Son La and Thanh Hoa were reportedmissing.
Some roads in Son La, Yen Bai, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An were hampered bylandslides while dyke incidents occurred in Bac Giang and Thanh Hoa provinces.
The department of natural disaster prevention in the south reported thata whirlwind pulled down a house, killing two local residents in Cai Nuocdistrict in the southernmost province of Ca Mau on August 18 morning.
Ministries and relevant departments have been strictly implementing thePrime Minister’s official dispatch to address consequences of the storm.
Authorities of Nghe An province are sparing no effort to arrangeaccommodations for residents isolated in 26 hamlets in Ky Son, Tuong Duong, ConCuong, Tan Ky, Anh Son, and Nghia Dan districts.
The Border Guard High Command of Thanh Hoa province has directed borderunits to deploy vehicles along with 420 soldiers and officers to help with theremoval of locals in flood and landslide-prone areas in Quan Hoa, Quan Son, BaThuoc and Muong Lat districts to safe areas.-VNA

Typhoon Bebinca, made landfall in the north central province of Thanh Hoa and weakened into a tropical low pressure early August 17, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
