– President Tran DaiQuang has called on the whole Party, people and army to heighten revolutionaryvigilance and combating spirit to firmly defend national security and ensuresocial order and safety.

The President made the call while attending aceremony held by the Ministry of Public Security in Hanoi on August 15 toreview the “All people protect national security” movement in 2006-2018.

He pointed out opportunities and challenges as thecountry is entering a period of comprehensive reform, industrialisation,modernisation, and international integration.

The President hailed effective models andoutstanding individuals in the field, which, he said, will be one of theimportant practical foundations for the Party and State to promulgate policiesand solutions to strengthen the protection of national security and order.

He ordered further reforms in terms of forms andmeasures to build the “All people protect national security” movement in linewith specific conditions of each region and field while enhancing coordinationbetween the Public Security Force and the Vietnam People’s Army, VietnamFatherland Front, relevant agencies and sectors.

The State leader suggested improving the qualityof self-management, self-defence, self-protection and self-reconciliationmodels in addition to rewarding contributors in the fight against crimes.

In the 2016-2018 period, the country has 2,080 typicalmodels in the movement, which helped the police uncover over 300,000 cases, arrestnearly 200,000 violators, and crack down on thousands of criminal gangs.-VNA

Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang underlined the importance of stronger coordination between APEC and other regional and global mechanisms in order to improve efficiency and optimise resources in addressing common challenges.
