Fatherland Front leader receives Singaporean official

Hanoi (VNA) – Presidentof the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Tran Thanh Man hosted areception in Hanoi on August 13 for Chief Executive Director of the People’sAssociation (PA) of Singapore Desmond Tan.
Man welcomed the Singaporeandelegation’s visit which is concurrent with the 45th founding anniversary ofdiplomatic ties and the fifth anniversary of the strategic partnership betweenthe two nations.
He said the bilateral strategicpartnership is growing steadily and effectively across many fields, evidencedby increased mutual understanding, visits at all levels and channels, as wellas new strides in economic cooperation.
As many as 12,000 Vietnamesepeople are currently living, studying and working in Singapore, while over18,000 Vietnamese officials joined training courses as a result of thecooperation agreement with Singapore. More and more Singaporean people are alsoinvesting in Vietnam, serving as an important bridge for bilateral links.
Man hoped that the PA wouldcontinue working with Singaporean authorities to create favourable conditionsfor Vietnamese people in the country.
The VFF and other relevant Vietnameseagencies will offer all possible support to Singaporean firms and people inVietnam in line with the law, he pledged.
Man also expressed his wish thatthe PA would continue to assist the VFF in training, community building, andholding meetings with lawmakers.
Tan, for his part, affirmed thatthe PA will do its best to realise signed agreements, thereby strengthening VFF-PAcollaboration, as well as the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Earlier, Vice President andSecretary General of the VFF Central Committee held talks with Chief ExecutiveDirector of the PA Desmond Tan.
The two sides signed a memorandumof understanding on the cooperation programme for the 2018-2020 period. They agreedto share experiences in community connectivity and building, self-governance incommunities, and public involvement in social management, all helping to serveas a bridge between the government and its people.
During the period, the two sideswill also offer mutual support in training, community connectivity and building,as well as popularising the culture and people of each country throughfestivals.–VNA
