Volunteer campaign 2018 kicks off in HCM City

The 12th Hanh Quan Xanh (Green Operation) volunteer campaign 2018 was launched on June 24 by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) of Ho Chi Minh City, with the participation of 800 members of the youth unions under the municipal armed forces and police.

HCM City (VNA) - The 12th Hanh Quan Xanh (Green Operation) volunteercampaign 2018 was launched on June 24 by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU)of Ho Chi Minh City, with the participation of 800 members of the youthunions under the municipal armed forces and police.

Lasting until August 12, the campaign is hoped to attract 18,000 youth unionmembers from the local armed forces and police, who will be divided into 17teams, focusing on five key activities.

The event aims to arrange talks to call for law observance among students,youths and workers, disseminate the traffic law in schools, and raise publicawareness of fire prevention in residential areas and schools.

Anti-drowning training courses will be provided for 1,000 children and 500volunteers, while those related to defensive skills will be held for youngwomen and female workers.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Doan Truong Quang from the municipal HCYU - commander of the campaign, said the operationwill offer a good chance for local children to experience real situationsconcerning the real life, activities as well as training of police and armysoldiers through military semester programmes for children held in theframework of the event.

On the occasion, theyouth unions of the municipal Police Force, Firefighter and High Command presentedthree houses worth 50-70 million VND each to policemen and soldiers indifficult circumstances.

Meanwhile, the youthunion of the municipal Border Guard Force handed over 3,000 notebooks, 300schoolbags and 300 packages as gifts to local children with good academicperformance.

After the launching ceremony, an exercise of fire fighting and escape skillswas arranged in Phuoc Long apartments in District 9.

The two sides agreed to continue advancing cooperation under the signed agreements, strengthen information exchange, enhance enforcement capacity and develop new initiatives to improve the fight against counterfeit goods and intellectual property infringements in the coming years.
