Vietnam congratulates Philippines on Independence Day

Hanoi (VNA) – President Tran DaiQuang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on June 12 sent congratulatorymessages to Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on the country’s 120th IndependenceDay (June 12).

On this occasion, Deputy PM and ForeignMinister Pham Binh Minh also extended a message of congratulations to AlanPeter Cayetano, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines.

Vietnam and thePhilippines established diplomatic relations on July 12, 1976. In late 2015, the two countries signed an agreement toelevate bilateral ties to the level of strategic partnership.

In recent years, Vietnam and the Philippineshave witnessed progress in bilateral relations. Two-way trade surpassed 4billion USD in 2017, an annual increase of 25 percent.-VNA

Vietnam and Germany agreed to increase delegation exchanges and maintain regular meetings between parliamentary leaders, committees and lawmakers, as well as step up cooperation in developing legal frameworks related to digital economy, green economy, energy, science and technology, and innovation.

In his keynote speech, NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh presented the conclusion as a strategic vision for legal reform in the new development period. It spells out concrete goals, nine major orientations, six bundles of tasks and solutions, and assigns specific duties to the relevant bodies.

PM Hung’s participation in this summit once again reflects Vietnam’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, resilience, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, as well as the diversification and multilateralisation of external relations in line with the spirit of the 14th National Party Congress.

Vietnam also stressed the need to advance more in-depth discussions on issues that have already garnered broad consensus, especially the reform of the UNSC’s working methods to enhance transparency, accountability, and effectiveness.

On the sidelines of the ASEAN–Russia Commemorative Summit in Kazan, PM Le Minh Hung is expected to meet President Putin and hold talks with the head of Russia's Republic of Tatarstan.

During the event, the Vietnamese delegation met with major French defence firms, including Airbus and UNAC, to discuss technology transfer, human resource training, technical support and defence industry development. Vietnam also invited international partners to participate in the Vietnam International Defence Expo 2026, scheduled to be held in Hanoi this December.
