Hanoi (VNS/VNA) – Phi Thi Thuy Linhwas crowned Mrs Ao Dai Vietnam, a contest to honour the beauty of thetraditional costume.
The pageant was held in Paris on May 12,drawing Vietnamese contestants aged 35 and above living in Paris as well asacross the globe.
Linh showcased many long dresses designedby Ngoc Han. The designs were inspired by lotus, pottery and bamboo to honourVietnamese traditional culture.
The contestants were tested in aninterview, ramp walk in ao dai (traditional long dress) and evening gowns,photo shoot and a Q&A session for finalists.
The contest serves as a platform to promotethe splendour of the Vietnamese ao dai among the international community whileencouraging younger generations of Vietnamese living abroad to take interest inthe history and values of the costume.
The jury included actor Hoang Dung, actressChieu Xuan, Dinh Hien Anh (Mrs Vietnam World 2017 and Miss Diamond Empire 2017)and French celebrities.
Prior to this, Linh made it to the top 10 inMiss Vietnam 2010. She works as a businesswoman.-VNA

More than 200 ao dai (traditional long dress) tailor and accessory shops in Ho Chi Minh City will offer 10-50 percent discount to clients throughout March in response to the fifth Ao Dai festival.
Over 3,000 people of different ages in traditional long dress (ao dai) joined a mass performance in Nguyen Hue pedestrian street on March 4, a highlight of the fifth Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival.
The 5th Ao Dai festival in Ho Chi Minh City is taking place with a wide range of activities, including ao dai-related shows, a mass performance with the participation of 3,000 people.
A cultural event has been held at the Temple of Literature to popularise the ao dai (traditional long robe) for men.
Young women from across the country are encouraged to participate in the national Miss Vietnam 2018 competition, which has just been launched.
Technology is similarly enriching exhibitions at the Vietnam Women’s Museum in Hanoi. Wartime letters, a typewriter and other artefacts linked to former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh have been digitally integrated with collections held at the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City. Through projection mapping, 3D displays and a virtual reality recreation of the Paris Peace Agreement, visitors can engage more deeply with the life and achievements of one of Vietnam’s most prominent diplomats.
The festival is expected to bring together around 900 artists, producers and film professionals from Vietnam and abroad, including more than 200 international guests. This marks the largest edition since DANAFF was first launched in 2023, highlighting its growing appeal within the film industry.
