Bilingual book on General Vo Nguyen Giap introduced in Hanoi

A Vietnamese-Korean bilingual book on late General Vo Nguyen Giap made its debut in Hanoi on May 25 before it will be introduced to readers in the Republic of Korea (RoK) afterwards.

– A Vietnamese-Korean bilingual book on late GeneralVo Nguyen Giap made its debut in Hanoi on May 25 before it will be introducedto readers in the Republic of Korea (RoK) afterwards.

The book, entitled “Dai tuong Vo Nguyen Giap trong long dan” (General VoNguyen Giap in people’s heart), is a work of photographer and journalist TranTuan. This is the first bilingual book to be introduced in the RoK.

In the future, more books on Vietnam will be introduced to Koreanreaders, including those on the Dien Bien Phu campaign and President Ho ChiMinh.

According to the author, the book is a collection of photos he took whenhe was with General Giap. The photos captured General Giap, the General’smoments with his comrades, people and family, as well as images of his funeral andmoving moments when people across the country mourned the death of the beloved Generalof Vietnamese people.

Tran Tuan, who had worked for the Vietnam News Agency, has 45 years ofexperience in his career and 35 years taking photos of General Vo Nguyen Giap.

He has published three books on General Giap. He has also organized 10photo exhibitions of the general in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, QuangBinh and many other localities across the country. All the photos werepresented to the localities after the exhibitions.

General VoNguyen Giap, whose real name is Vo Giap (alias Van), was born in Loc Thuycommune, Le Thuy district, the central province of Quang Binh on August 25,1911.  He passed away in Hanoi on October4, 2013 at the age of 103.          

He once servedas a Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Military Commission, StandingDeputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence, Commander-in-Chief of theVietnamese People’s Army and a National Assembly deputy from the first toseventh tenures.

Ngo Phuong Ly, spouse of Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, expressed her emotion at seeing the children’s optimism despite difficult circumstances, noting that both Vietnam and the Philippines place children at the centre of their development policies, from education, health care to child protection.

As digital transformation and global integration reshape the information landscape, Vietnam’s press sector continues to solidify its role as a key channel connecting the Party, State and people while providing comprehensive coverage of social life. The sector’s evolution reflects the country’s efforts to advance press freedom in line with its development goals and national circumstances.

In the initial phase, it will target those with physical disabilities and hearing impairments, helping them access occupations suited to their abilities while equipping them with soft skills, professional attitudes and direct exposure to companies during training.
