Hanoi (VNA) – Voters in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong said the recent trial of several major corruption cases has strengthened the public’s trust in the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Nguyen Thanh Quang, a voter in Dak Nia commune, Dak Nong’s Gia Nghia town, said he is closely following the fifth session of the 14th National Assembly which opened on May 21.

He said what draws voters’ attention is the recovery of assets in corruption cases.

“The people hope that at this session, the NA will complete regulations and laws on recovering assets in corruption cases, because the assets actually belong to the people, and the recovery of them will have big deterrent effects,” Quang said.

He noted that despite the discovery and trial of many corruption cases, the lost assets have not been reclaimed.

Nguyen Van Van, deputy head of the Education and Popularisation Commission of Dak Nong province’s Party Committee, noticed remarkable changes in the current NA session, especially those related to question-&-answer procedures. He added that the changes win the public’s approval.

According to Van, draft laws to be debated at this NA session also attract attention of voters.

The fifth session of the National Assembly (14th tenure) will debate and approve eight draft laws, which are the Law on Denunciation (revised), Law on Special Administrative and Economic Units, Law on Measurement and Maps, Law on Competition (revised), Law on Cyber Security, Law on National Defence (revised), Law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on Physical Activity and Sports, and Law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on Planning.

Eight other bills will also be tabled for discussion at this sitting, which are the Law on Corruption Prevention (revised), Law on the People’s Public Security Force, Law on Husbandry, Law on Cultivation, Law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on Amnesty, Law on Marine Police, Law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on Education, and Law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on Higher Education.-VNA
